KAFSC’s Healthy Youth Program provided a free three-week anger management workshop at the Light of Love Missions Church in Pasadena on 10/31, 11/7, and 11/14. The interactive workshop, covering topics such as building self-awareness, increasing self-control, managing stress, and improving communication, provided a valuable opportunity for children and youth to learn about dealing with anger and stress and acquire practical skills in a fun and informative group setting. About 30 youths in the Korean language program at the church participated in the workshop. “Valuing Our Families,” KAFSC celebrates Korean American families at the 26th Annual Dinner
October 1st, 2009
Over 180 friends of KAFSC gathered on October 1st to celebrate KAFSC’s 26 years of dedicated service to Korean American families. KAFSC’s long-time supporters enjoyed a look back at its grassroots beginnings forged by a group of immigrant women inspired by Dr. Tae Young Lee, Korea’s first female lawyer and a highly respected advocate of women’s and children’s rights. The evening also looked forward to KAFSC’s future under the new leadership of Connie Chung Joe, Executive Director, who took the helm at KAFSC in March 2009.
KAFSC would like to thank the sponsors, the guests, and the volunteers who worked tirelessly to make the evening possible. A special thank you goes out to Mayor Sukhee Kang and James Kyson Lee, our 26th Annual Dinner honorees, and Dr. Susan Chung, the keynote speaker, whose excellence in community leadership and public service provide role models and inspiration for others to become engaged in the community and make a difference.
